Cassini Division is my solo musical project that it started when I moved to Antwerp back in the year 2000.
With great speed I met several musicians and friends all related to the arts like Mauro Pawlowski, Elko Blijweert,
Jeroen Stevens, Rudy Trouvé, Dago Sondervan, Teun de Lange, Eric Thielemans, Dennis Tyfus, Romeo Hornaerts, Rufus Mich,
Ludo Mich, Guy Rombouts, among others. With many of them I collaborated in different bands and projects.
My first year in Belgium went surprisingly well. In a few months I scored the first Cassini Division LP for the
the label Subdeviant, part of Conspiracy Records. The same year I performed with CD and a live band in Nantes
at La Lieu Unique accompanied by Dennis Tyfus painting live during the show. Dennis also made the cover for the
LP and worked on the artwork for the Monguito cassettes on 2 opportunities.
Cassini Division records are always made on home studios, the first experiments were done back in the nineties with
a 4 track Tascam tape recorder, then I purchased a Teac with 2 tracks to do the mastering and a Sony DAT.
I worked in the beginning extensively with the Moog opus 3, a drum machine Alesis HR16B, and a bunch of effects,…
then I borrowed extra gear from friends and colleagues. The groove sampler from Roland was decisive for the making
of the first LP, also I incorporated flutes, a brass section and Indian tablas. Also borrowed the great Roland JP8000 for it.
After working with a theatre company I could score my first Apple computer. This brought to CD a more contemporary
sound, incorporating VST and new software. I worked for many years with Reason 5 and Ableton Live. I also work
with Native Instruments like Massive, Absynth, FM8,. Other synths including, Moog Modular, Moog Werkstaat, Arp Odyssey,
micro Korg, Mopho from Dave Smith synths!.
Cassini Division takes influence from baroque, Middle Ages, Greek, contemporary classical music, free jazz
minimal tecno, ambient, world music, musique concrete, electro acoustic, film music.
