| I can’t believe I am actually writing this to say that Miguel Sosa has passed away in his native Argentina from cancer. We were first introduced to Miguel at Bar Mondial at a Love Substitutes show in 2009 and from then on a great relationship was formed and we put out both of the absolutely beautiful Strumpets albums and 2 IH8 Camera albums. When Miguel moved back to Argentina we stayed in regular contact and ended up physically releasing no less than 9 albums with Miguel and many more digitally. Miguel was SO prolific and creative that I couldn’t keep up with the pace of his output and there was more I should have released… Wherever you are Miguel I’m sorry about that. Miguel’s music veered from the experimental synth of Cassini Division and Officina Cassini to the pure psychedelic surf pop of Strumpets and the more recent Plano Remoto. Of course Miguel was already a legend WAY before I met him and had done projects with Mauro Pawlowski such as Monguito and The Parallels and had released Cassini Division via Dennis Tiefus. Looking back over emails he sent me this from one of his old 90’s bands Brixton Crenchi – there was so much more to know about Miguel… I mentioned Miguel and his projects in a video interview with Rudy that I sent to Miguel on 14th April and he saw the message. I hope he was able to see the video and had some idea of what his music meant. Safe cosmic travels Miguel, you will be deeply missed. So sorry and my sincere condolences to all his family and friends. x |
