Danny Blue and the Old Socks are a new band from Antwerp, Belgium. Four wild and young guys with a sense of humor and great taste in music. Just a little while ago they started talking somewhere on a muddy music festival after seeing Iggy Pop perform live and that day a new band was born. Their inspiration comes from bands like Mac DeMarco, Hockey Dad, Surf Curse, Twin Peaks, The Growlers and Skeggs. The past months they played over 40 gigs at clubs and festivals stirring up audiences with their energetic and infectious sound, including a support slot for Skeggs. The band signed to Starman Records and a 5 track EP, recorded at Jupiter studio’s, will be released in October, preceded by a first single in September.
Their music is a mixture of Britpop and Surf rock with a touch of sixties psych and Lo-fi with room for a laidback surf-vibe. Clever songs, played loud, and a distinctive sound makes it impossible not to dance when these guys are in town playing a gig with an energy and a joy that you haven’t seen in a long time. Picture yourself on an Australian or Californian beach dancing wild to a steamy beat and singing along to songs that stick to you like industrial strength duct tape.
Keep an eye out for Danny Blue and the Old Socks ! If fans start flashing their boobs, you know something is really happening. Four 19-year-old weirdos with a passion for music and fun. Surfing at the Antwerp Scheldt river never had a better soundtrack !
