Live touring partners, legends and friends of what is quite easily the most exciting music scene that London has seen for a long long time. Lil’ Lost Lou and Paul Hawkins on one bit of vinyl makes perfect sense to us. Sonically different yet compatible Lou and Paul are both honest storytellers with genuine punk rock attitude and flamboyant delivery.

Lil’ Lost Lou is a three piece that features Micky Luv on floor drums, Ricky Blow on Blues Harp and are lead by Lou Psyche on vocals and guitar. Their electrifying and frequent performances at a wide variety of venues and festivals have gained a loyal live following, they have played with the likes of Pete Doherty, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Darren Haymen of Hefner and a radio session with Resonance FM. Lou’s old band, the criminally underappreciated Brazen Hussies were a band who simultaneously held NME Single of the Week, Melody Maker’s Wankers of the Week and the affections of Type O Negative’s Pete Steele in Kerrang! Lil’ Lost Lou have received favourable comparisons to The White Stripes, Jonathon Richman, Cold War Kids and Dolly Parton. Their live aesthetic and raw integrity have been perfectly captured within the grooves of this limited edition single. ‘Bad Bad Girl’ is a staple of Lou’s live set and a bold statement of intent.

In our opinion, Paul Hawkins is simply one the most unique and best songwriters this country has produced. Live Paul performs solo stripped down affairs and also with his band Thee Awkward Silences; a disheveled highly talented collective and means to articulate and help Paul deliver his poetic, tragic and sometimes hilarious tales of alienation towards a mostly appreciative public. The band comprise of Ian Button of Death In Vegas/Dot Allison (drums & production), Ben Anstis (guitar). Alex Templeton-Ward (bass) and Tom Mayne of cult underground miscreants David Cronenburg’s Wife on keyboards & guitar, they create a full and relentless sound to compliment Paul’s exceptional songwriting. He has been played by Huw Stephen’s at Radio One via both a Cherryade Record’s Christmas album and our very own ‘Welcome Back To The Jezus Factory’ compilation. ‘The Evil Thoughts’ is one of Paul’s signature tunes and we feel that he has captured the definitive version with this single.
