Kameel – Variomatic (featuring Rudy Trouvé and Tim Vanhamel)

Price range: £22.00 through £27.00

Out on 7th November – available on Black or White LP – or option for bonus Live Impro LP whilst stocks last…

After their albums Barkas (2020) and Trugschluss (2023), the Belgian trio Kameel is forging a new path. With their third album, Variomatic, the band trades their familiar jazz and krautrock influences for a more electronic approach. The album chugs, stutters, and growls like a tuned-up automatic, reminiscent of DAFs in a workshop. Guest appearances from Rudy Trouvé, Tim Vanhamel, and saxophonist Joppe Bestevaar, among others, enrich the raw, industrial sound.

Description

After their albums Barkas (2020) and Trugschluss (2023), the Belgian trio Kameel is forging a new path. With their third album, Variomatic, the band trades their familiar jazz and krautrock influences for a more electronic approach. The album chugs, stutters, and growls like a tuned-up automatic, reminiscent of DAFs in a workshop. Guest appearances from Rudy TrouvéTim Vanhamel, and saxophonist Joppe Bestevaar, among others, enrich the raw, industrial sound.

On their 3rd full-length Kameel experimented with analogue synths, arpeggiators and electronic textures. Naturally their quirky vintage old-school sound is still represented but, in some cases, it’s accompanied by a more digital undertow. From intense mellow with an additional sound scape feel to dancefloor fillers. It’s all there.

To top it all off they got a little help from some amazing friends: Rudy Trouvé (dEUS Kiss My Jazz, Dead Man Ray, …) and Tim Vanhamel (Millionaire, Magnus, Eagles Of Death Metal, Evil Superstars,…) lent their beautiful voices and Joppe Bestevaar – who previously played on Kameels’ incredible interpretation of the Buscemi/Steve Ignorant track “Who D’you Think You’re Talking To/Getting Cosy With Steve” – again plays his out of this world saxophone.

And there’s more. We got a very limited to 250 copies bonus album you can pursue. Black vinyl/white labels containing a live impro set of 2/3rd Kameel somewhere in Hasselt, May 29, 2025. This spacey ‘n’ weird mushroom-attack of a recording will leave you astounded on a natural high AND with a big smile on your face.
